Thank You Cards

So their is this great episode of "Daniel Tigers Neighborhood" where they have a Thank You Tree and write thank you notes.  I found the book at the library based on this episode.  It was simple, sweet, to the point, and left  you wanting to write a Thank You note.  We read it during large group, and then I modeled how I wrote a Thank You note to my mom.  At our writing center I had some cards and markers for them to write their own thank you notes.  I kept going back and forth about if I wanted to add other art supplies to decorate the cards.  I ended up deciding that I wanted this to be about writing, rather than art.  SO I left it just with markers, but lots of colors and 2 different kinds of markers.

I put a white board by our table with words they might want to use in their letters, I also drew some simple pictures that they could draw on their cards. 

We ended up with some great thank you cards and some great writing!
