Of course C is for candy canes. Later on in the month I knew I was going to have a table full of supplies to make Christmas Tree decorations and pipe cleaners would be an important tool. I wanted them to be able to twist and tie and bend with confidence. So I thought what better way than by making candy canes.
We learned a song: (it's a knock off our apple song)
Way up high in the christmas tree
5 stripped candy canes smiled at me
I shook that tree as hard as I could
and down came a candy cane
and (licking sound) it was good.
Each child twisted pipe cleaners to make 5 stripped candy canes. We used them for several weeks while singing our songs.
Twisting pipe cleaners is not easy at this age - and it was good to do 5 of them because it took about that many for them to become proficient.
Then at one of our tables sat white and red long pipe cleaners to explore.
Hayden decided it was easier to wrap instead of twist!
We got some great looking candy canes!
