Karen Burnside:
We had a great experience with Ms. Jamie. My five year old had a such a great time and learned so much throughout the year. Even now (she is currently in kindergarten) she will recall various activities and lessons from preschool and tells me how much she misses Ms. Jamie. I was very impressed with Jamie's curriculum, and thought she had an excellent balance between learning and play. My five year old is very sensory oriented, and Jamie's teaching style and curriculum really allowed my child to thrive. Some of my child's favorite learning based activities included cooking and sewing on an actual sewing machine. By the end of the year, I felt my child was well prepared for kindergarten.

My daughter is currently attending Miss Jamie's Discovery Preschool.  I am very impressed with Jamie's knowledge of early childhood education and her teaching philosophy and style.  My two older children attend a very academically focused charter school; Lucia will be attending as a Kindergartner this fall.  Jamie's preschool curriculum fits right into that academic model.  Some may wonder how a "play based" preschool can prepare children with a strong academic foundation.  I've learned through my older children's Kindergarten and First Grade curriculum that what seems like "playing" to us actually helps children retain knowledge, creates ownership and pride over their learning, and boosts self esteem and enjoyment about school and schoolwork, instead of drudgery and despair.

When my daughter started preschool, we had barely practiced writing her name (I know. I know. Bad mom. Third child, right?).  But a month into school, she was writing many different letters, though she still made mistakes.  Last month I noticed how neat and tidy her penmanship had become.  This was all due to preschool; we did not practice at home. This is just one of many examples on how Jamie's preschool teaches children the skills they need to succeed in Kindergarten.

We absolutely love Ms. Jamie! Her preschool is fantastic! It was the perfect environment to foster creativity and instill a love of learning for our son. He's still in denial about having to move on to kindergarten without her.
